The Morris Family Justice Center:

The Morris Family Justice Center can offer survivors counseling services, access to civil legal protection, legal and immigration assistance, children's services, and more.  To ensure that all survivors have access to supportive services, the MFJC focuses on supporting language needs and has many bilingual Spanish speaking staff.

 

The model for the Morris Family Justice Center is recognized as a best practice in the field of domestic violence by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Services at the Morris Family Justice Center:

 On-Site: JBWS staff provide domestic violence education, safety planning, need assessment, connection to partners, and community resources for anyone walking into the MFJC.

 

Children' Services: Conducted both in-person and virtually, counseling services by staff trained in understanding the impact of domestic violence on children and families are available to child survivors.

 

Civil Legal Assistance:  Provided by attorneys from the Legal Services of Northwest Jersey (LSNWJ), Morris County Organization for Hispanic Affairs (MCOHA), and the Morris County Bar Foundation, legal assistance is offered with restraining orders, family matters, housing, immigration, and more. Additionally, the Morris County Sheriff's Department assists with legal matters such as restraining orders.

 

Prosecutor's Office: The MFJC coordinates with the Prosecutor's Office on criminal matters in order to support clients, including accompaniment at trials.

Related Services: 

Crisis Response Team (CRT): Trained volunteers and staff members meet with survivors shortly after incidents of domestic violence are reported to the police to provide to provide victims with critical access to resources, support, safety planning and more. Legal Advocacy: Legal advocates can share information about abuse, provide support in family court, assist clients in filing restraining orders, help with safety planning, provide access to a list of attorneys that offer pro bono services, and more.
